About FAS EDIB

Our Mission

The Office for Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS OEDIB) serves as a thought leader and strategic partner to advance the teaching, research, and service mission and commitment to excellence by partnering across the School to advance sustainable inclusive excellence.

The FAS OEDIB is responsible for conceiving, developing, and overseeing strategies to advance and support equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging (EDIB) for all constituencies (students, faculty, staff, academic, and administrative units) across the FAS. FAS OEDIB incorporates an evidence-based approach to activate change and transformation.

FAS OEDIB Overarching Goals

Communities of Practice

The FAS EDIB will create opportunities for the FAS community to build communities of practice in person and support each other. This includes leveraging existing EDIB communities and efforts.

Consultation & Response

The FAS EDIB will provide consultative support to the FAS community in developing EDIB skills and best practices, and in customizing efforts to meet the needs within their local units. This includes helping to direct units to the appropriate resources, leaders, and teams.

Content Knowledge

The FAS EDIB will support the FAS community in developing a baseline understanding of EDIB language, content, and capacity-building. This includes trainings, workshops, and opportunities for engagement.

FAS EDIB Resources

The FAS EDIB will support the FAS community in becoming familiar with the FAS EDIB offices and resources, and how to access them. This includes sharing EDIB information and tools across the FAS, as well as literature and research in the field.

Planning & Assessment

The FAS EDIB will support the FAS community in developing the skills to define their goals, take action, and assess progress. This includes helping units to develop concrete steps for the DIB goals.
